Turkey has been challenging Greece’s sovereignty for some time; in fact, bullying Greece with provocative statements and threats of war.
The worst news now is that Çavuşoğlu is going to the UN, which has become a lackey of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
Turkey wants to see Greek demilitarization, which would enable it to invade the Aegean Islands, not only for the sake of Islamic expansionism, but also because of the energy resources in the Mediterranean Sea, which has been the site of big natural gas discoveries. France even had to send warships last year to support Greece “as a standoff with Turkey over regional energy reserves” intensified. At the time, French President Emmanuel Macron stated: “I want to express my concerns with regard to the behaviour of Turkey at the moment … we have seen during these last days Turkish warships accompanied by Syrian mercenaries arrive on Libyan soil.” Syrian “mercenaries” are hardcore jihadists.
Greece remains resolved against Islamic supremacist Turkey. The worst thing Greece can possibly do is withdraw from the Aegean Islands, which would provide a clear way for Turkey. Yet Turkey will continue to use whatever means of coercion and force it can get away with, as is typical of Islamic supremacists, to try to bully Greece, all the while running to the UN for support and preaching about “international law.” Familiar tactics all around.
“Turkish FM Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu claims Greece can lose sovereignty of the Aegean islands,” Greek City Times, December 15, 2021 (thanks to Henry):
Another challenge comes from Turkey, this time from Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who went so far as to challenge Greek sovereignty over the Aegean islands where the Greek Army is located.
Speaking in the Turkish parliament and after the parliamentary representative of the opposition asked him about the demilitarisation regime of the Aegean islands, Çavuşoğlu replied that the islands should be demilitarised, but this regime was violated since 1960.
He noted that Greece cannot have the right to sovereignty over the islands, which it militarises and for this reason a relevant letter was sent to the UN.
“Opposition MP Engin Altay has accused our government of violating the demilitarised regime in the Aegean islands. This is a national issue,” Çavuşoğlu said.
“These islands were ceded to Greece under the conditions of Lausanne and Paris, on the condition of demilitarisation.
“Greece has been militarising these islands since 1960. It is not something new.
“But what did we do?
“We sent a letter to the UN and stressed that in case Greece continues to violate the demilitarised regime of the islands, it will not be able to claim that it has the right to sovereignty over them……

Turkish sabre-rattling isn’t all bluff as was seen with their invasion of Cyprus which turned into an orgy of rape and pillage by the Turkish troops.
Wiki: “Around 150,000 people (amounting to more than one-quarter of the total population of Cyprus, and to one-third of its Greek Cypriot population) were expelled from the northern part of the island, where Greek Cypriots had constituted 80% of the population. Over the course of the next year, roughly 60,000 Turkish Cypriots, amounting to half the Turkish Cypriot population, were displaced from the south to the north.[44] The Turkish invasion ended in the partition of Cyprus along the UN-monitored Green Line, which still divides Cyprus, and the formation of a de facto autonomous Turkish Cypriot administration in the north. In 1983 the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) declared independence, although Turkey is the only country that recognises it. The international community considers the TRNC’s territory as Turkish-occupied territory of the Republic of Cyprus. The occupation is viewed as illegal under international law, amounting to illegal occupation of European Union territory since Cyprus became a member.”
Turkey also supported ISIS. Genocide is still a much-hinted idea of Erdogan’s party.

Grimly true, Mortimer.

Turkey’s dams on the Tigris and Euphrates have reduced the water flow to Syria by 40% and Iraq by 80% since 1975, scorching the earth and driving the exodus to Europe. Turkey should be treated as an enemy.
Jesper says
Why is Turkey officially still a member of NATO. And why is Israel not ?
Michael says
Maybe Turkey was a useful air base for our disastrous airstrikes on Iraq, plus a buffer against Russian expansion. The days of playing footsie with them are well past. The EU have stopped their pathetic flirtation. Now NATO should link-up with Israel, and then with Armenia and Georgia when the time is right.

what the turks are asking of greece is a surrender of the agean islands nothing less than that…
at the time it is asking for its demilitarization of the islands half an hour away by boat it has staged one of the largest armies on earth in smirni (izmir) in the coasts of turkey…. had turkey ever wanted to demilitarize the greek islands it would simply retreat its vast ammount of soldiers special forces and ships set for an ivasion back inside turkey and away from the borders and everything else would be done automatically as greece would try to reduce the expenses for maintaing army on the islands of the agean….
turkey has also declared a maximalist exclusive financial zone that includes half the mediteranean half way across libya, an agreement together with the west libyan government that magically includes settlement for exclusive zone for the east of libya, as if the west libyan governement has taken over all of libya….
an exclusive zone that ignores the maritime international laws and ignores the existence of greek islands, in some cases completely covers greek islands within its exclusive zone… in other cases recognises no exclusive or other zone for the greek islands….
these maximalist claims of the new ottomaniac empire chalifate of the sultan have proven him a great charlatan…. its purpose is to grey the areas which according to international maritime law greece and only greece would have the right to drill and supply europe with gas….. in the future the ottomaniacs maybe even drill those hydrocarbons themselves ripping off greece of its natural riches that could help us deal with the greek dept and the malicious economical status of the country…

Does Greece have anything like the Second Amendment? If it doesn’t, it should! Not just that, every Greek should be armed – not just in Aegean islands but also in mainland Greece itself. So that if Turkey sends troops in anywhere, they’ll be shot the moment they land
Also, diplomatically, it’s high time that Greece raised a stink about this in NATO, and made it clear that either Greece or Turkey remain in NATO – but not both! And if Turkey is not booted out of NATO, Greece should leave, and form an alliance w/ Moscow. Let NATO start enjoying Russian allies interrupting their continuous empire from Lisbon to Bucharest, like Greece or Serbia or even others
Boycott Turkey says
Turkey need to leave Cyprus and also they need to leave Constantinople nothing beLongs to them apart from Central Asia and Mongolia
GreekEmpress says
+10!!!
The Turks are salivating at encroaching on Greece and the Balkans.
And Infidel is right—either Turkey leaves NATO, or Greece does.
Greece needs EU boot off it’s neck too.
Boycott Turkey says
+10 True EU is a burden for Greece I think Greece needs to stop relying on any country to help them against Turkey and just build up there military like israel has done

Agreed, GreekEmpress.
Infidel says
Mongolia doesn’t belong to them either. Mongols and Turks were/are two distinct peoples and ethnicities. Also, Mongols ain’t muslims either
Turks come from what’s today’s Turkmenistan: the Seljuqs were Oghuz Turks, which is the population of Turkmenistan
Boycott Turkey says
True infidel there where different tribes of mongols and Mongolia is not a Muslim country i think those tribes fought each other and where pushed into Central Asia Turks say Ghenghis khan is the father of all Turks
Infidel says
But Genghiz Khan was not a muslim. Nor a Turk. In fact, one of his major wars was against the Turkish sultanate of Khwarezm (today’s Turkmenistan), which was the major islamic empire at the time, and he destroyed it b’cos of the sultan executing his messengers who he had sent to establish trading relations. But Turks were native to what’s today’s Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Xinjiang. Turkmenistan and parts of Uzbekistan were a part of the Samanid empire
Genghiz was a Shaman, who worshiped a deity known as Tengri. It wasn’t until 4 generations later that some of his descendants embraced islam and islamized the Ilkhanate, the Golden Horde and the Chagatai Khanate

Turkey bullying Greece again, threatening that Greece could lose sovereignty of the Aegean islands
…………..
Turkey has been saber-rattling, threatening Greece for some time, completely unprovoked.
That NATO is allowing this is appalling–but grimly not surprising.
