A simple fact that far too many policy makers ignore: the problem isn’t Muslims who choose to ignore Islamic texts and not to imitate 1400 years of jihad and follow the supremacism of mainstream Islamic institutions. The problem is the significant numbers of Muslims who do, those Muslims who read the full range of problematic texts and listen to the multitude of preachers who do the same.
“If a man who is not married is seized committing sodomy, he will be stoned to death.” Abu Dawud 4448
“And Lot, when he said to his people, Will you commit abominations such as no one in the worlds ever did before you? Indeed, you come with lust to men instead of to women. No, but you are wanton people. And the answer of his people was only that they said, Turn them out of your town. They are people who keep pure. And we rescued him and his family, except his wife, who was of those who stayed behind. And we sent a rain upon them. See now the nature of the consequences evildoers suffer.” Quran 7:80-84

There are millions of peaceful Muslims. There are also Muslims who try to conceal the problematic texts and outright lie to the less informed and anyone who will listen that Islam is a religion of peace, despite its bloody history and the ongoing violence that is committed in perfect alignment with Islamic texts.
Although Turkey being ruled by an Islamic supremacist despot, it is still nominally secular, and so “LGBTI+ rights activists and lawyers in Eskişehir, central Turkey…. filed a criminal complaint regarding the anonymous leaflets calling for killing LGBTI+s with Islamic references.” Opposition to some Sharia provisions is seen in many Islamic countries, but until Islamic institutions and Muslim individuals openly admit and reject abusive Islamic texts — those that call for murder of so-called “blasphemers,” murder for certain sins, and the abuse of infidels and women — the violence will continue. It is all rooted in the goal of advancing the scope and hegemony of the Sharia.
The world often sees but refuses to admit the case of the proverbial “speaking out of both sides of your mouth.” Many Muslims condemn the violent acts on one side, but they ignore or even deny the existence of the Islamic texts that motivate and inspire these acts.
“Leaflets urging ‘stoning LGBTI+s to death’ distributed in Turkey’s Eskişehir – english,” Bianet News, May 19, 2022:
LGBTI+ rights activists and lawyers in Eskişehir, central Turkey, on Tuesday (May 17) filed a criminal complaint regarding the anonymous leaflets calling for killing LGBTI+s with Islamic references.
Reading out a statement in front of the Eskişehir Courthouse, LGBTI+ activist Matti Solak said, “We know that these leaflets without a signature are distributed by the reactionary, jihadist gangs.”
They recalled the statements targeting the LGBTI+s by senior government officials, including the president, the interior minister, and the president of religious affairs, saying, “they are criminalizing our existence.”
“None of us is safe in Eskişehir, the city picked the eighth safest city of Europe, which Governor Erol Ayyıldız, who posed with jihadists gangs, brags about,” Solak remarked, referring to a recent visit by religious community leaders to the governor.
“The perpetrators of the slightest hate attack on LGBTI+s living on the streets of this city are evident. It is the state that turns a blind eye to these attacks….
The leaflet entitled “Explanation of the haram of sodomy with verses [of the Quran] and the hadith” includes quotes from several early Islamic scholars that LGBTI+s should be killed and how it should be done, daily Evrensel reported last week. Stoning to death and burning are the methods suggested by various scholars. The leaflets were distributed in Odunpazarı, a central district of the city, coinciding with the governor’s banning of a music festival in a decision welcomed by the religious communities in the city, which described the festival as “immoral.”…

it is a myht that turkey was, is, or will be secular… infact the begining of the kemal ataturk ruler of turkey who is claimed to have secularized the ottomaniac empire was marked by genocides and ethnic cleansing of greeks, armenians and assyrians who were christians… ataturk and his followers did not stop these genocides and ethnic cleansing untill 1956, when they exterminated the last remaining greeks of Constantinople who had likewise the rest the most horrible and inhumane deaths (far more inhumane than the jews from hitler)… of course these genocides unlike the the genocides of the nazis remained and remain unrecognised to this day by the international community of countries….
one would argue why they did not exterminate the kurds also??? the kurds were all muslims untill not so long ago, and were also some of the main parts of the turkish army that commited the genocides on behalf of the turks….
germany was a main accomplice in those genocides participating often by leading the armies of turkey…
almost a million greeks, another million armenians and about 300 thousant assyrians were first recruited (the men) for the turkish army, which led them to forced labour camps where they died of the 18 hour a day heavy work, the cold and the diseases and malnutrition… the women and children after the turks collected the women they wanted for slaves and for harems, were led to death marches (those who did not resist and were killed on the spot) whereupon they died in mountainous terrains were they was led in the depths of turkey…. the slave trade sprang selling christian women as sex slaves…
this is how secular turkey was untill the last word of ethnic cleansing around 1950s… thereafter there has not been christian people left in turkey, so the genocide stopped…. turkey now has serious issues with the kurdish, which it is also exterminating in syria, iraq and inside turkey…. any leader there might be in turkey will take advantage of a time when the world is busy elsewhere, or a world war to commit yet another genocide, that of the kurdish…. in ways that can be covered accordingly, a genocide of the kurdish has already started but moves in slow motion, inorder to avoid reactions from the intrnational community…

The Armenian Genocide–really, a genocide of *all* Christians, including Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, and Levantines–began in the mid 1890s and continued in waves up until 1922. It began under the Ottoman Empire, continued under the “Young Turks”, and again under Ataturk. They may have disagreed on a lot of things, but were all fine with slaughtering Infidels.
This was just characterized as a “defense of Turkishness” under Kemalism, rather than a Jihad per se. Little difference in reality.
Then, as you note, there was a pogrom against some of the few surviving Greeks in Constantinople in 1955, usually known as the Istanbul Pogrom.
And there is still violence against the tiny remnant of Infidels surviving there, like the assassination of Armenian journalist Hrant Dink in 2007.

Stoned to death? Why, doesn’t Turkey have any tall buildings or minerets from which they can simply be dropped to their deaths?

Bloody thugs. This is, unfortunately, completely Islamic.

LGBTQ did you get the message? Islam hates you and wants you dead, unless you are a little boy or are being punished prior to throwing you off a high building.
