Egyptian authorities claim that the perpetrator was mentally ill, but the victim’s family rejects this. He was a jihadi.
“Cyril Majali succumbed to his injuries after being attacked with a machete in Akhmim by an extremist,” translated from “وفاة كيرلس مجلى متأثرًا بإصابته بعد الاعتداء عليه بساطور بأخميم على يد متطرف,” by Nader Shukry, Wataninet, June 8, 2022:
Cyril Majali died this morning, a man from Mahdi village in Akhmim Center in Sohag, succumbed to his injury after being attacked by an extremist using a cleaver and after three days in intensive care, in an attempt to save him, but the young man died today.
His family said that a prayer was performed over Cyril in the Virgin’s Monastery in Akhmim Mountain, and he is now being transferred to the family’s gravesite, amid anger from the Copts and demands to punish the perpetrator, who mercilessly attacked the victim with a machete. The Copts reject the “mentally deranged” narrative.
The Akhmim Prosecution in Sohag decided to imprison Abdullah Hosni, who had attacked Cyril Majali in Akhmim using a machete, which inflicted serious injuries, fracturing his skull and cutting the tendons of his hand.
The Sohag University Hospital in Sohag received a wounded man named Cyril Najah Majali from the village of Arab Mahdi, Akhmim district, Sohag governorate, who was stabbed several times by a sharp instrument, and his health condition is unstable.
Major General Mohamed Abdel Moneim Sharbash, Assistant Minister of Interior and Director of Sohag Security, received a notification from the Akhmim police station’s warden, stating that a report had been received from Sohag University Hospital about the arrival of a wounded man drenched in blood and with several separate stab wounds to the body, and his health condition was unstable.
Immediately, after the police began their investigation and obtained permission from the Public Prosecution, it was found that the accused, Abdullah Hosni, pushed the victim off his motorcycle and hit him with a machete, which resulted in several skull fractures, a brain hemorrhage, and cut tendons of the hand. The accused was arrested and a report is being prepared.
Medhat Najah, the victim’s brother, said that Abdullah Hosni had previously used to harass Copts, and two years ago he had assaulted another Coptic Christian and was sentenced to one year. He went to Libya to work there and returned two days before committing his crime of assaulting his brother, as his brother, who works in Kuwait, was on vacation and was preparing to travel on his way back to his home, riding a motorcycle. Abdullah Hosni intercepted him, dropped him, and beat him.
He pointed out that the perpetrator tried to claim mental disorder, as his family brought a medical certificate from a special center in an attempt to escape punishment for his crime.
A statement by the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the accused had a previous criminal record, and after his arrest, he confessed to committing the incident and also admitted to getting rid of the cleaver used in the crime in a water bank.
The family appealed to the Attorney General to intervene to restore their brother’s right against this person, who was described as an extremist and who harbors hatred for Christians, and demanded the necessity of revealing the period he lived in Libya and his relationship with terrorist groups.

There’s nothing “peaceful” about Islam. Islam and violence are like Siamese twins!

Egypt: Muslim ‘extremist’ attacks Christian with meat cleaver, killing him
…………..
Just horrifying–the poor victim and his loved ones.
I doubt the murderer will face serious prosecution for this crime.
Rod says
One man kills another in Egypt. Big news for Jihadwatchers. Such violence is appalling. And indeed it is.
Meanwhile in Christian America, about 40 Americans, more or less, will be murdered today by other Americans. The same will occur tomorrow, and the next day, and the next.
Perhaps it’s a relief to despise another culture. And to tell each other, endlessly, that there’s something terribly wrong with it..
But is this rational behaviour?
gravenimage says
This “other culture”–really, the creed of Islam–actually teaches violence and murder against unbelievers, including Christians.
Note that “Rod” never says why we should respect such a creed.
And there is nothing like this in the United States–although “Rod” often pretends that Christianity teaches violence.
And this is not a single case in Egypt as he pretends. There is a full on genocide against Christians in the Middle East and Africa, which “Rod” hopes no one here has noticed.

I honestly believe there is a chance for Rod, he doesn’t seem to have the same murderous intentions that are required from muslims. But thats up to him. Rod please come to your senses and leave this death cult, Islam is 100% satans religion
Rod says
“And there is nothing like this in the United States–although “Rod” often pretends that Christianity teaches violence.”
Two lies in one sentence. Perhaps it’s easy if you practise. Christianity actually teaches peace (like Islam), but as we all(?) know, Christian history is filled with violence. (Ask the Vietnamese or the Iraqis or the NRA).
I’ve read that during the recent Texas massacre an 11 year old girl smeared herself with the blood of her murdered friend in order to escape being murdered herself, as 19 of her tiny friends were in their classroom. A story more horrific than the tale Mr Spencer found to enthral you in Egypt. But practised liars and self deceivers can convince themselves that “there is nothing like this in the United States.”, and, ignoring reality, persevere in their blind hatreds of others.
Little wonder that there seems little hope for change. Little wonder that their hatreds are cherished like diamonds in the tiny hearts of racists.
gravenimage says
Of course “Rod’s” claim that Islam teaches peace is utterly false. He must desperately hope that no one here has read the Qur’an, Hadiths, and Sira.
gravenimage says
John, “Rod” has been spouting apologia for Islam here for years. He is back now after a year’s absence, but he was pretty ugly before this, as well.
john smith says
Rod the murder rate all over the world today is shocking and appalling, but this has nothing to do with Christianity. Infact the ten most safest countries in world to live are all Christian countries, with the exception of Japan at number 9 and Iceland being by far the safest country to live in. As for the US being a dangerous and violent place, it is, but there are so many more countries that have a far higher murder rate than that of the US.
Once again Rod you’re here trying to defend the atrocities of islam by portraying Christians as murderers. Lets get one thing straight shall we, to be a good Christian you try to emulate the ways of Jesus as much as you possibly can, by not murdering anyone, by not waging war, and to love everyone including your enemies. On the other hand to be a good muslim you try to emulate the ways of muhammad as much as you possibly can, who was mass murderer, a warmonger, a rapist, a paedophile, a liar and a thief. The list of his crimes are endless, he was the most evil despicable human being, he was anti-christ, he was of satan.
Rod says
Hey john, doesn’t everybody these days know that whataboutism simply brands you as not very smart?
As for your conviction that folk who disagree with you must be Muslims, “not very smart” is flattering.
gravenimage says
Grimly laughable. Actually, everything about “Rod’s” approach here is whataboutism. When faced with the horrors of Islamic savagery, he just claims that Americans are racist.
Rod says
john, I have to remind you that the homicide rate per capita in the USA is over seven times that in Austria, Germany, Norway, Australia and some other countries, five times higher than that in the UK, Sweden or France, and significantly worse than in other modern western countries. These are shocking statistics. Some authorities suggest that the rate in the USA might actually be rising, perhaps thanks to four years of Trump’s divisive stupidity. Why are so many Americans so addicted to such violence? The civilised world is aghast.
So, how dare you attack any other culture for violent behaviour? It’s a complete mystery to many, and I’ve no doubt that includes many in the Islamic world. Is it just ignorance? Or is it racism?
Pinocchio, I don’t “just claims that Americans are racist.” (Another lie – I know you can’t help it).
I claim that Jihadwatchers are racist. There’s a difference.
gravenimage says
“Rod” bases his claim that Anti-Jihadists are racist on–what, exactly? On a previous thread he claimed that Anti-Jihadists at Jihad Watch were racist because they condemned the mass slaughter of Black Africans in Nigeria, and now he is claiming that Jihad Watchers are racist for condemning the murder of an Egyptian man.
More from “Rod” on this thread:
https://www.jihadwatch.org/2022/06/dr-congo-muslims-murder-18-people-burn-down-houses-in-jihad-raid-on-village
Really, this makes no sense at all. Just making an irrational claim is not proof. Like so many Islamic apologists, “Rod” does not appear to understand this–or if he does, he has just decided to double down on the baseless claim, because he doesn’t have anything else.
john smith says
Thanks for the reminder Gravenimage, and Rod is not just an islamic apologist I believe he’s also a muslim.
I’ve nothing against Rod or most muslims, I just wish they would open their eyes and see the true reality of what islam really is.
gravenimage says
Thanks, John. And “Rod” certainly may be Muslim–it would explain a lot. But he is certainly an Islamic apologist in any case.
john smith says
Rod I was just stating a fact that when I said, “there are so many more countries that have a far higher murder rate than that of the US”, this is not an attack its a fact. Putting all this aside, I would like your opinion on a few little questions, as I will gladly share mine with you.
1. Do you believe that Jesus is an excellent role model for Christians and all of mankind? Because I do.
2. Do you believe that mohammad is an excellent role model for muslims and all of mankind? Well you know my opinion on that question, but I’d like to hear yours.
Rod says
john
Question 1. Yes
Question 2. I don’t know much about Muhammad, but I do read absurd allegations about him on this site which just reinforce my contempt for racists. (Apparently some of you know more tiny details about the personal lives of people who lived centuries ago than you know about your own recent history.)
I do know, however, that the Muslims I know and have known are fine people whom I respect, and wherever their values come from, it makes them far more admirable people than the small-minded, hate-filled people who contribute their toxic views to this grubby little corner of god’s world. I wonder if you’ve ever entertained a Muslim in your own home, or if your views are based on the lies you read here.
Now, I’ve answered your questions. Do you dare answer mine?
Pinocchio – another lie. My claim that you are racists is based not on one post, but on hundreds. I’m beginning to think your lies stem not from dishonesty, but from incomprehension of your own language. Perhaps that’s a forgivable failing. Come to think of it, we’ve been here before, haven’t we? Not dishonest, just ignorant?
john smith says
You’ve not answered question 2 Rod “I don’t know much about muhammad” is not an answer, so I will ask you again.
Do you believe that mohammad is an excellent role model for muslims and all of mankind? Yes or No.
gravenimage says
More from “Rod”:
I don’t know much about Muhammad, but I do read absurd allegations about him on this site which just reinforce my contempt for racists. (Apparently some of you know more tiny details about the personal lives of people who lived centuries ago than you know about your own recent history.)
……………..
Which allegations are absurd? Note that “Rod” does not say.
Comments on Muhammad’s behavior are generally based on *Islamic texts*. Does “Rod” believe that Infidels are not allowed to cite such texts? Pious Muslims consider this the model of the perfect man, so this is *very* salient today.
Then “Rod” again claims that Anti-Jihadists are racist, again not citing a single example–and this is because he’s got nothing.
Rod says
john, isn’t it obvious? Folk who aren’t well enough informed are not entitled to voice opinions. (Something that jihadwatchers seem to overlook more often than not). In the case of Muhammed, I suspect that holds true for both of us, one because of ignorance, and the other because of misapprehension and deception.
But in the case of someone like Donald Trump, I have no hesitation in stating that he’s an example to all of us, as the very opposite of a role model. I expect you’d agree.
And my question, as usual, remains unanswered. Jihadwatchers do love to steer the discussion away from awkward topics which they will not, can not, must not confront.
Pinocchio resorts to lies and insults. Others respond to a question by asking a question. So subtle.
gravenimage says
Again, “Rod” doesn’t say what I have supposedly gotten wrong. Just baselessly calling someone a liar does not make it so.

John, please see my reply to you above.
john smith says
Thank you Gravenimage I have done. As for Rod, well I simply don’t Know. He may well be to far down the islamic road of no return, but in a way I’m glad he still comes here. At least while he’s visiting this site there is a small chance that perhaps one day his eyes will be opened, and he will see how truly evil islam is. I’m aware this wont happen over night.
gravenimage says
I hope you are right about “Rod”, John–but he’s been posting here for at least five years now, and he hasn’t gotten any better.
His very first post here was sneering at the idea that anyone would be upset about Jihadists murdering Americans.
somehistory says
John,
You know what the bible says about a leopard changing its spots.
Well, Jeremiah, after saying that about the big cat, said to the King: ‘Neither can you do good who are accustomed to doing evil.” (Jeremiah 13:23) ‘
A person really must want to change in order to do so. And this goes for any big changes in one’s life.
john smith says
Somehistory,
I always take in what you have to say as you are clearly well versed with Biblical knowledge. I oppose those that oppose the words of Jesus, like mohammad did, because those that follow the teachings of mohammad have taken the side of satan. They are unaware of this fact, but that is the path they have chosen to take,
gravenimage says
Some people do change–I doubt that “Rod” is likely to, though.
