Safe spaces wanted.
More than 3,600 people have signed a petition calling on GW to remove Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas from his role as a professorial lecturer in law at GW Law after he voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. Thomas has lectured at GW Law since 2011, co-teaching a constitutional law seminar with his former clerk Gregory Maggs, and is set to teach that course again in the Fall 2022 semester, according to GW Law’s course catalog.
Good luck with that. Even at GWU which has bent over backward in bowing to wokeness.
“With his explicit intention to further strip the rights of queer people and remove the ability for people to practice safe sex without fear of pregnancy, it is evident that the employment of Clarence Thomas at George Washington University is completely unacceptable,” the petition states.
If you guessed that the petition was created by an obnoxious white woke philosophy major, you win something. I don’t know what. Possibly having to read his petition.
Jon Kay, a rising junior majoring in international affairs and philosophy, made the petition Sunday afternoon after learning of Thomas’ position at GW Law. He said he started the petition because he felt Thomas’ position on the right to an abortion, as well as his signaling of reconsiderations of Obergefell v. Hobbes and Lawrence v. Texas, which respectively outlawed bans against same-sex marriage and sodomy, threatened students.
“I think that it’s unacceptable that he’s on campus because this decision and then the three decisions that he’s actively going after explicitly are actively endangering the lives of the students on campus,” Kay said.
Unsafe, unsafe! A black man is making Jon Kay feel unsafe.
The full petition states that the Supreme Court has “has stripped the right to bodily autonomy of people with wombs” and claims that “it is evident that the employment of Clarence Thomas at George Washington University is completely unacceptable” who, according to Kay, “is actively making life unsafe for thousands of students on our campus”.
Only a white philosophy student can save “people with bombs” from the only black male justice on the Supreme Court.

Sounds really ****racist***** to moi. Justice Thomas can only *revisit* cases if something is brought before the Court. He’s not going out there and making up cases to present, and he’s not doing as some judges have been doing and writing law instead of deciding whether something is *lawful* as written.
If they feel so “unsafe,” they can make like a tree and leave. No one is forcing them to stay at the university, In fact, they can leave all the way to Saudi Arabia, or pakistan, or iran, where they will be shown what can happen when people don’t obey the law with their personal choices.

There are many ugly and silly features of Leftism. One of them is that so many Leftists are snowflakes.
Keith O says
Tell me about it, my son in law is one of them.
Me being a Pagan with redneck heritage and being an old crusty digger makes dinner table conversations “interesting”.
Wellington says
I’ll bet, Keith O. No doubt.
My own experience with Leftist snowflakes (and I taught a score of them over the decades and they got worse with each passing decade) is that they cannot stand up to 1) criticism; 2) facts; 3) disagreement; and 4) gentle mockery even though they engage in rank mockery all the time. In short, they’re pathetic.
Bruce Stanton says
My teenage children are like that. God help them when they have to live in the world in real life.

Evidently, kinzinger is made to feel “unsafe” by L. Boebert
‘ARepublican congressman slammed GOP colleague Lauren Boebert’s recent call to end separation of church and state in the US, warning: “There is no difference between this and the Taliban.”
“We must opposed [sic] the Christian Taliban,” Adam Kinzinger, a US representative for Illinois, said Wednesday. “I say this as a Christian.”
I question kinzinger’s brand of Christianity. I have serious doubts based on his “fruit.”
He makes me feel “unsafe.” Can I petition to have him “removed”?

Yes–and the idea that allowing parents to put some of their tax money towards their children attending private schools–including parochial schools–represents an end to separation of church and state is just ludicrous.
This ruing does nothing to establish a state religion in the United States.
somehistory says
And the coach on the field…alone or with students who wish to join him… is not anything to do with a ‘taliban-like’ action or mentality. No one is being forced to join him, but he is now allowed to pray there if he wishes.
Wellington says
I am glad, somehistory, that the Supreme Court decided as it did in this case about the coach praying on the field (though of course the 3 Leftist judges did not). What we should have is freedom OF religion but want the Left wants is freedom FROM religion—just one more Leftist error and an assault upon the entire Judeo-Christian framework which was integral in the creation of America.
When someone like me has to be in the forefront of defending Christianity, this in and of itself is dispositive of how awful matters have become. I am 100% convinced that the Left will totally ruin America, from top to bottom, if allowed to do so. They must not be allowed to do so.
somehistory says
thank you, Wellington.
According to the book, “Dark Agenda,” written by Mr. Horowitz, of FrontPageMag, it is their goal to destroy the Judeo- Christian **everything*** and they are truly working hard at it.
I, for one, appreciate your words and your fight to uphold something worth upholding.
gravenimage says
True, Somehistory–the Coach even said a few players didn’t feel comfortable praying, and that it was fine.
Wellington says
Hell, somehistory, I as an agnostic am more of an upholder of the true Christian tradition than the weepy, snowflake-like, foolish, Trump-hating Kinzinger.

I only know about the two of you from what I read online, but I have to agree with you, Wellington. h e double hockey sticks, I do.

Woke Student Claims Justice Clarence Thomas Teaching at GWU Makes Him ‘Unsafe’
…………………………………….
Does this college junior feel unsafe from a 74-year-old jurist?
His LinkedIn page shows a strapping young fellow on a hike sporting a t-shirt emblazoned with a ’70s style fist.
https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonkayjay/
Is there a picture of Jon Kay at the dictionary entry for “snowflake”? Just ludicrous.
Then, this reference to “people with wombs”–don’t call them women–would be hilarious if it were not so grotesque.
And kudos to Daniel Greenfield for noting that a black man is making Jon Kay feel unsafe. What is he, some kind of “Karen”?

The Falangist Five justices are all pretty scarey. That’s Thomas, Kavanaugh, Barrett, Alito, and Gorsuch.
somehistory says
And you have an “ugly”…not pretty at all, “scarey” (sic) definition of fascist. those ones like sotomayor…who is an unwise latina…and the equally ignorant kagan, are what some sensible people might liken to those in Spain to which you refer.
Males and females should be made to be responsible for their actions…esp when a tiny life is involved.
gravenimage says
“Falangist”–uh huh. Try again…
Wellington says
Falangist? Hmmm. Let’s see here. Falangism denied freedom of speech, freedom of the press, a multi-party system and liberty overall. How is the present majority of the Supreme Court doing any of this?
Your extremist (and ludicrous) characterization makes you someone who should not be considered seriously. BTW, the Dobbs decision was actually very democratic. Instead of nine people deciding the issue of abortion for an entire nation, the Dobbs decision returned this to the people to decide through their elected representatives. Yes, about 150 millions voters v. nine. But, per your thinking, this is Falangist, though I think all this will escape you.
gravenimage says
Roland has also referred to Roe v Wade as a “compromise”, even though it legalized abortions in every state. So what was it a compromise between? Pro-life and legalized infanticide?
CogitoErgoSum says
White woke people are some of the worst racists of all. They think black people are just not capable of being as smart as white people and so the blacks need some kind of extra help. Well, black people in the U.S. have been getting some extra help for the past 60 years or more. How much more help do they need? From what I can see black people are practically running the country. Half the people on tv commercials and other advertisements are now black; nearly every time there is some type of news event the mayor or the police chief or other local government spokesperson appearing on the t.v. is black. We have elected a black President – twice. And the thing is black people are not more that 15% of the U.S. population.
I realize that just like white people some black people need help. BUT, let a black man show that he is capable of thinking on his own and able to take care of himself without any help from a white person, well, then there can be no other reason than that he is some kind of traitor and he is not really black anymore. These woke whites then yell him down and call him all kinds of racist names. These “woke” people are just stealth versions of the old slave owners who who want to keep their blacks stupid and doing what they want – and they will whip all those who get out of line. Joe Biden put this on display when he said, “If you don’t vote Democrat, then you ain’t black.” People like Biden can’t stand Clarence Thomas because he has a mind of his own. I am sick of the “woke” (and especially Joe Biden).
I may sound like a racist to these “woke” people but I know black people can think for themselves and should be treated the same as white people – no better, no worse. I’m sick of all this white guilt for things people long dead did before I was even born and I’m sick of all the double standards. We are well into the third generation since the Civil Rights Movement started in the 1950’s. If the goal has not been achieved by now it’s never going to be. But I think it has been achieved and now things are going in the opposite direction. Clarence Thomas and the way he is being treated in 2022 is proof of that – and again, Joe Biden and not Clarence Thomas is the one who sickens me.
Wellington says
You are not a racist, CES, though the moronic Left may very well accuse you of such.
As Dennis Prager has opined, never in the history of mankind has one race done so much for another race than has the white race in America done for the black race in America over the last 60-70 years. This is an absolutely valid statement but it will still be disregarded by the Left which, stupidly, wants to pull down the greatest civilization, i.e., Western Civilization, and the greatest polity, i.e., America, ever in pursuit of a mindless, ignorant and perpetual victim-status of non-whites against whites, which in and of itself is quite racist and immensely divisive and which solves nothing.
We live in a mad, absurd era. This is my starting point time and time again. Just look at all the gender crap that exists out there for further confirmation. Well, the Left is collectively mad, the so-called moderates tend to remain mostly gutless even though they know something is terribly wrong, and too many conservatives, knowing the truth of matters, refuse to go on the attack. Ominous, pathetic and even lethal long term.
P.S. I think blacks in American commercials hover around 90% of the time and this is so phony since black Americans, whom I always wish well (but quit having so many children out of wedlock—around 77%), make up only 12-13% of the American population. Damn, I hate phoniness and we now live in the Age of Phony.
somehistory says
I agree with both of you. a racist…in the original meaning, which it seems to have no longer, does not fit with what you wrote about your thinking.
If you are a racist, then so am I and many others. I have two bi-racial grandchildren and many, many Black friends who hug me, spend time at my house, etc. My mom was taught how to cook by a Black lady friend of her mom, my grandmother. I’ve worked with Black people who considered me their friend.
I see, like you, so many ads that are all Black or where a Black is coupled with a White person…spouse, or boy/girl friend…making big decisions about taxes, buying property, etc. This is happening some…but not near as much as portrayed. I see Black police officers who have White subordinates; Black chiefs of police, mayors, the many Black reps in Congress; business owners, etc. They may have had help getting there, but they are there and using authority over others. There are many also in the different gov agencies.
In my opinion, with which I wholeheartedly agree, any person who makes an attempt to be a better person, to be responsible, etc. has the potential no matter the tone, tint, hue of their skin. Some…of any color…may need help, but they should be appreciative instead of cursing and demanding even more.

“More than 3,600 people have signed a petition …”.
The petition gatherer is “Jon Kay, a rising junior majoring in international affairs and philosophy”.
[1] In university rankings, what is a “rising” junior? Do falling junior exist as well?
[2] Jon Kay deserves an Amy Tan 3-3 Prize for having a three-letter forename and a three-letter surname.
[3] Jon Kay also deserves a gumption prize to recognize his initiative in gathering 3,600 signatures, not just getting people to click a box on an online petition 3,600 times.
[4] Figuring that one page can hold tens signatures along with identifying information, 3,600 signatures amount to a 360-page document. Where is this document now? Is it still in Jon Kay’s possession? Has Jon Kay submitted it to some university authority at George Washington University? How long will these signatures be kept? Will the public still be able to view them in, say, 2032?
