Hung Cao is right. “Extremist” is an exercise in empty demagoguery that is designed to scare people away from supporting the targeted person, without actually refuting what the target says. At the same time, there was a genuine jihad threat after 9/11, and still is. As the years went on, it became far less common for Muslims to be tarred with this label than for it to be used against opponents of jihad violence and Sharia oppression of women. I wonder if Hung Cao is aware of that.
“Virginia Candidate Compares ‘Extremist’ Criticisms Of Republicans To Post-9/11 Treatment Of Muslims,” by Michael Ginsberg, Daily Caller, October 3, 2022:
Virginia congressional candidate Hung Cao implied that Democrats’ claims of Republican extremism are similar to the treatment of Muslims in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in a Sunday debate.
Cao, a retired Navy special operations officer, is running against incumbent Democratic Rep. Jennifer Wexton in Virginia’s Tenth District. He is a participant in the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) Young Guns program, and Wexton is an NRCC target. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) includes her in their Frontline defense program.
The two candidates debated at the Dar Alnoor Islamic Community Center, in an event co-hosted by the MOVE Chamber of Commerce. Towards the end of the debate, Cao held up posters created by the Wexton campaign claiming that he is an “extremist.”
“Where have you heard this word before?” Cao asked. “Where have you heard this word before? I fought and served this country. I bled for this country. And I’m being called an ‘extremist.’ I’ve served honorably for every American. I know lots of people that served with me didn’t agree with my politics. And its fine. I served them anyways. I served them as a commanding officer, and I served them in combat, to preserve life. And now I’m being called an ‘extremist.’”
“Where have you heard that before? This is how we tear people apart. I deserve to be called an American. I’ve earned that right. We’ve all earned that right. We’ve earned that right to be called Americans, even though we weren’t born here,” he continued….

That is very disappointing, since he happens to be the candidate that I’d have to vote for, since I’m doing my part to remove Dems from as many slots as possible. A better comparison would have been him comparing the Democrat treatment of Republicans to some post 9/11 louts attacking non-muslims thinking they were muslims (like the attacks on some Sikhs in Arizona a few days after the attacks). But even that would be inaccurate, since the Republicans in question are just exercising their right to a free opinion, while the muslims in question may or may not be planning things nefarious at various levels
I have been getting Wexton fliers claiming that Hung Cao is an extremist on abortion, even opposing it on rape and incest. Even though I am technically pro-choice (I support it being legal anywhere b/w 12-16 weeks, as is the case in most Western countries and even in most GOP states), I toss those fliers straight into the common trash area. After our ex-governor Ralph “keep-it-comfortable-until-the-mother-decides-what-to-do” Northam, who suggested that even after delivery ‘abortion’ is still an option, I have had it w/ these ‘abortion-is-my-fetish’ Dems, who’ve gone from wanting it to be “safe, legal and rare” to “I’ve not had an abortion, but I wish I did” ghouls. If you didn’t support “My body, my choice” for vaccines, don’t lecture me on that for abortions. Particularly when another body too is involved!

Is this move towards more and later abortions – (and even straightforward infanticide, as suggested by Northam and others) – driven by the “body parts” industry ? The later the abortion, presumably the more money these evil people make from selling more fully developed parts?

That absolutely is the driving force here. Just like the driving force behind the ‘gender reassignment surgeries’ is the health ‘care’ industry, which has abandoned the Hypocrites’ Oath in favor of promoting these multi-million dollar operations which damage young people long term (and even short term) but which fills their wallets the way nothing else could. If it continues, these institutions would be about as rich as companies like Amazon and Apple
It’s interesting that in those states where abortion rights have been rolled back since Roe v Wade was overturned, Planned Parenthood has now switched from marketing baby parts to marketing gender reassignment surgeries. They should rename themselves to Planned No-Parenthood

More people who may wish to do the right thing, need to think more about what they are saying before saying it.
Perhaps he usied that comparison because he was speaking at a mozlum place where mozlums gather.
the debate was “at the Dar Alnoor Islamic Community Center,” Politicians say what they believe their audience wants to hear. mozlums proclaim that they were all targeted after 9/11, so using this to make the mozlums in attendance want to vote for him would not be thought of as *wrong* even to one who may know that mozlums were at fault for the mass murders.
Politicians say what they believe will get them elected.

Great news, but it won’t be done until they are out of business. And a day needs to come when CAIR has the same status in the US that it has in Saudi Arabia: branded a terrorist organization

It probably would have been if “bo” hadn’t stopped them from being *indicted* and prosecuted for funding hamas…their fellow terrorists.
Wellington says
Concern and even fear of Muslims is justified since ALL Muslims, however “moderate,” adhere to a belief system which is totalitarian in nature and a mortal enemy of liberty. Indeed, not suspecting Muslims of being an enemy of freedom and true democracy is simply not defensible—even stupid. Might as well not suspect Neo-Nazis or Marxists of this.
By contrast, concern and fear of Republicans is rooted in abject hysteria and mendacity. The Republican Party was born in the 1850’s out of opposition to slavery (and which the Democratic Party, even in the North, a la Stephen Douglas, was, at best, neutral about). There is nothing about Republican Party principles which is extremist. But there is a great deal about Islamic principles which are very much extremist, just one of many examples that can be proffered here is death for apostasy.
Thus, the comparison by Cao is way off the mark. Besides, literally hundreds if not thousands of mosques have been built in America since 9/11 and what is so startling (and a tribute to American tolerance contra what exists in one Islamic nation after another) is the extraordinary non-belligerence towards Muslims in America since that very dark day in American history perpetrated by very devout and knowledgeable Muslims. After all, Mohammed himself is recorded as saying, “I have been made victorious with terror.” (Bukhari Hadith 4.52.220) Yes, a comparison most inapt and inept. Shame on Cao.

All true, Wellington.

Not all are devout or even know what Islam teaches.
But for our sake, we must assume each of them is and does, putting the onus on them to prove us wrong.

The only real way for a muslim to “prove us wrong” is for that particular muslims to become an apostate.

Infidel,
We don’t hear much election coverage on VA where I am.
How is Hung Cao doing? Any reliable polls or stats?

Did you hear or read about the professor who was shot and killed b murad dervish? the name murad is arabic, dervish is persian. They have not id’d the professor.
GreekEmpress says
Hi somehistory,
The news about the U of A professor was a shock. Everybody was warned to stay away from the area.
I thought the killer was either Turkish or Iranian. I smell a “mental issues” defense coming up.
I thought possibly Professor Meixner was Jewish, but he was Catholic, so it wasn’t an attack on a Jewish person.
Hopefully we’ll know more tomorrow.
I’d like to know if he was a member at the Tucson mosque.
It’s located in close proximity to U of A housing.
somehistory says
thank you, GE, for the information.
I had seen a couple of reports, but the name of the professor was omitted in each.
Guess maybe we’ll know more soon and hopefully, the murderer will face a court of law.

I tried to check RealClearPolitics for the exact status here, but it doesn’t seem to give out that data to people not subscribed. However, this district is a pretty heavily Democrat district since it contains the outskirts of DC – Fairfax, Alexandria, Arlington and so on. Even though Loudoun County was the epicenter of the controversy last year over the school district due to the face-off b/w parents and the school board, the Dems narrowly won those districts in the state House of Delegates, as well as narrowly defeating Youngkin/Sears/Miyares. While I would think that the numbers would have shifted in favor of the GOP since then, the RCP leaning Dem list shows this district clearly blue
The last GOP rep we had here was Barbara Comstock, who was one of the anti-Trump republicans in the 2016 House, and she got deservedly blown out by Wexton in 2018. Last thing we want is RINOs: if that’s the option, we might as well have a real Dem rather than a fake one

Virginia: Candidate likens Democrats calling Republicans ‘extremists’ to post-9/11 treatment of Muslims
………………………………………..
Not sure where to start with this. Of course. Jung Cao is right that Democrats calling Republicans “extremists” is absurd–but somehow I missed the part where conservatives had just launched an attack on our nation and murdered almost 3000 Americans…
