At a small pro-Palestinian rally in Warsaw, a Norwegian girl — pretty, blonde, and empty-headed Marie Andersen — carried a sign that showed a stick figure throwing a Star of David into a garbage can. The antisemitic message was unmistakable: the Jews should be “thrown in the ashcan of history.” Naturally, not everyone in Poland agreed, and she is now under investigation by the police and her university. The story of this dumb blonde can be found here: “‘I’m Sorry for Undermining the Pro-Palestinian Movement,’ Says Norwegian Student Who Shocked World With Antisemitic Sign,” by Ben Cohen, Algemeiner, October 24, 2023:
The young Norwegian woman who caused outrage around the world by carrying a viciously antisemitic placard at a pro-Hamas demonstration in Warsaw has defended her behavior in an interview with a Norwegian broadcaster, characterizing the State of Israel as “dirty” and underlining that her main regret was that the furor she generated had “undermined the pro-Palestinian movement.”
President Andrzej Duda further said he “strongly condemns the anti-Semitic slogans” that appeared during a march organized in Warsaw.
“We, Poles, out of memory of those murdered during the Holocaust, can never agree to any manifestations of antisemitism in any form, and any signs of it arouse our deep indignation.
In Poland, there is no consent to express hatred towards anyone. This is completely contrary to the values on which the Republic of Poland is based.”
Auschwitz memorial bosses have also called for Marie Andersen to be prosecuted for her “racist act.”
Speaking exclusively to LBC, a spokesperson said: “Such an incident is entirely unacceptable and unjustifiable. “We hope that the relevant authorities will take legal action in response to this racist act as per Polish law.”
But in an interview on Tuesday with Norway’s TV 2, Andersen defended the message behind her sign.
Asked why she had designed such a placard, Andersen replied that it “contains an Israeli flag in the bin to illustrate how dirty I think the Israeli government is, both in this warfare, but also by running an apartheid state for decades.”
“Apartheid state”? Here we must again — for the hundredth time — refute that idiotic charge. So here goes (skip ahead if you have read this too many times): “No matter how often the charge of “apartheid” is flung at Israel, it isn’t true. Arabs serve on the Supreme Court, sit in the Knesset, go abroad as diplomats for Israel. The chairman of the largest bank in Israel, Bank Leumi, is an Arab. Arabs study in universities with Jews, work in factories and offices with Jews, are treated in the same hospitals with Jews, by both Jewish and Arab medical personnel. Jews and Arabs play on the same sports teams and in the same orchestras. Jews and Arabs own businesses together, everything from restaurants to high-tech start-ups. The only difference in their treatment is that Jews must, while Arabs may, serve in the IDF.
During a generally sympathetic interview which at no point challenged her contention that her sign was an attack on the Israeli government and not Jews in general, Andersen said she was “sorry that the poster was not clear enough on the point that this applied to the Israeli government and did not represent any religions and is interpreted as Jew-hatred.”
Apparently a great many people knowledgeable about antisemitism, including the staff at the Auschwitz Memorial, were unconvinced by Marie Andersen’s “explanation” of her true target — not Jews, she claimed, but only the Israeli government. There were, after all, all kinds of signs she might have carried, taking issue with the current Israeli government and not with Jews as a people. She could have carried a sign, for example, in which a piece of paper labeled “Netanyahu government” was dropped into a trash bin. She chose instead the Star of David, symbol of world Jewry, making clear her target was “the Jews.”
Her excuse — that she meant only to criticize the Israeli government — is nonsense: the Star of David clearly represents the Jewish people, and not only the government of the Jewish state.
Andersen also claimed that during a media interview she gave while participating in the demonstration, she had made clear “that this poster was certainly not aimed at Jews, and that we support human rights and freedom of religion is an important right.”
She went to say that she was “sorry for everyone who has been affected by this misinterpretation of the message during the demonstration. I condemn antisemitism and any hatred directed against any religion.”
What she is sorry for is having been caught out, denounced quite properly as an antisemite, and is now in danger of losing her position at the Medical University in Warsaw and her student visa. She faces a world of woe that is of her own making.
Andersen concluded her remarks by emphasizing, “I also want to express that I am sorry for how this has undermined the pro-Palestinian movement.”…
Of course. Andersen does care, very much, about the Palestinians, and it is for their sake that she will pretend she has nothing against the Jews, but only against the Israeli government. Note that in her various interviews, Marie Andersen had not a word to say about the Hamas atrocities on October 7. Perhaps she thinks they are not worth bothering with, or more likely, she even approves of these “acts of resistance” that are completely understandable, given that the poor Gazans “have lived for 56 years under occupation” by the “settler-colonial state” of Israel.
Andersen later posted a statement to her X/Twitter account, which as of this writing has a mere 16 followers, repeating her apology to the Palestinian solidarity movement and denying any antisemitic intent. She pointedly refrained from condemning the Oct. 7 pogrom launched by Hamas terrorists in southern Israel in both her statement and her media interviews.
Sixteen followers on Twitter? That’s not exactly a vote of confidence or sign of solidarity.
A spokeswoman for the Medical University of Warsaw on Monday acknowledged that Andersen was registered as a student in its division that provides instruction in the English language.
“Unfortunately, we can confirm this,” Anna Rubaj told the Polish news outlet na Temat. “She will be called today to explain herself to the dean.”…
The Medical University is not going to give Andersen a pass on her most public display of antisemitism. She’s going to be called on “to explain herself.” Will the university accept her story about meaning to criticize only the Israeli government, or recognize — it’s not hard to detect — the clear antisemitic impulse behind her wanting to throw the Jewish state into the garbage bin of history?
Andersen is clearly in trouble. Both the police and the university where she is enrolled are alarmed at her views and behavior. The university administrators have declared that they are “astonished and very concerned” about her actions. Will they expel her from the school, and the Polish authorities, having declared her persona non grata, then send her packing back to Norway?
It is pleasant to think so. Stay tuned.

Do we think that Norway would really want her back ? Send her to live in Israel, but that would be punishing the israelites.

There is something wrong in Norway. Look at all the aid it gives the Palestinian Arabs– both money and diplomatic support. What explains it?

We can be certain that Marie Anderson has not read the Quran, Hadiths, and Sirah. In fact, we can be certain that 90+% of the non-Muslims, demonstrating against Israel, have no evidential knowledge of Islam.
Why does a person expend the energy to make signs, travel, and march for a cause in which they have very little knowledge?
Obviously, too many people cannot allow themselves to believe that a religion’s “holy” texts authorize discrimination, the forceable subjugation of all non-Muslims, killing the opposers of Islam, and in the case of Jews, a permanent pogrom for genocide.
Like France and Germany, people can continue in ignorance of Islam’s own claim to superior governance and much later, awake from the fantasy as second-class citizens in a nation they no longer recognize.
Israel is our Canary in the coal mine and our first line of defense. If we allow ignorance of Islam to determine our actions then we will pay a horrible cost of, later, fighting alone.
Watch people change attitude when faced with truth. How many went back to their delusions?

You are, without a doubt, right about the ignorance this fool would have about islam’s malevolent nature, Westman. As for why she would go to the trouble she has gone to, I’d say that, among her fellow left wing wankers, her peer group, she’d get plenty of praise and popularity for having the politically correct attitudes on this and other issues. Her fellow ignoramuses would probably see her as some kind of hero. Her sign would have received some praise. Her radiantly smiling, happy face in that photo shows that she is having a jolly time being so popular with her fellow, trendy wankers.

Yes.
But somewhere along the line, her brains fell out.

Endorsing here, James, what you, tim gallagher and Westman have stated.
My oh my, sometimes a tough call whether pure evil or willful ignorance of evil is the worse of the two. I’m with the latter ordinarily as exampled by this moral idiot from Norway and very much tending to prove Ayn Rand’s contention that it is not evil that is the main problem for humanity but rather the excuse making for evil which is—and which invariably costs mankind far more in the long run.
As other “culprits” here in this regard, I would mention two despicable Americans, Joe Biden and Barack Obama by name.
tim gallagher says
Yes, James, when it comes to islam, there seem to be plenty of people around who have had their brains fall out. I do think that some of it must be a sort of groupthink among the left wing wanker brigade who want to fit in with their leftie peer group. Wellington, I have been shocked by the large number of people who are displaying such an appalling attitude towards Jewish people, in countries all around the world, and including Australia, in the past few weeks. When it is Muslims, I am not at all surprised because the Muslims’ insane level of hatred towards the Jews, straight out of the Koran, is no surprise at all. I had heard about the rise of anti-Jewish sentiment among the left, a fashionable attitude, but i had not realised how bad it has become. It has been an eye opener. To me, after the atrocious savagery of the scum from hamas during the attack on Israel, all these supporters of hamas and the palestinians are disgusting, evil people. You have to be extremely evil to try to excuse the sadistic, evil , totally inhumane scum of the earth from hamas.
James Lincoln says
Wellington and tim,
Thank you for your very informed replies.

Hopefully, she is enjoying with a grin and a smile the Muslim army she and her peers imported into Norway. The simpleton may very well have her own “Gaza strip” in Norway sooner than later. Have fun Marie Andersen.

I am generally against cancel culture including this BUT it does not apply to migrants/visitors. You cannot enter another country and then act in controversial manner. A visa is a privilege. Most counties do not tolerate troublemakers on visas. You can’t come in my house as a guest then trash the place. I will tell you have got to go Go to your home country and do it there.

What a stupid sick-o cunt. These leftist whores and wannabe sex slaves are anxious that their new Hamas slave-masters might be unwilling to let them pull a train for the brave, gang-raping, murdering, baby-slaughtering, atrocity-committing Hamas FILTH. I hope you all get what you so clearly want.
