It isn’t the war that has led Saudi Arabia to turn on Israel. It showed plenty of signs of its loyalty to the Palestinians long before Operation Swords of Iron began.
El Pais reports below that the Israeli/Saudi dialogue is “frozen,” and normalization is “shelved.” But the hope in the normalization agreement with Israel was almost as delusional as the Palestinian delusion of a two-state solution in the first place. The writing was always on the wall.
- In May, Saudi Arabia freed more Hamas-linked prisoners in a “large scale release,” after meeting with a Hamas senior delegation.
- In August, Israel ruled out any concessions to Palestinians to secure a Saudi normalization deal, amid fierce criticism from leftists. One of those unreasonable demands was that Israel give up more land and return to pre-1967 borders, which would likely mean Israel’s demise.
- Around the same time, the Saudis appointed an envoy to the Palestinians in Jerusalem, which Israel rejected. During that same month, Saudi Arabia showed its true colors and fired guns and explosive weapons at Ethiopian refugees at Yemen’s border, killing hundreds of them.
- In September, Saudi Arabia presented a map that erased Israel and replaced it with “Palestine,” despite the negotiations. Right after Hamas’ ISIS-like attack on Israeli citizens, Saudi Arabia joined Qatar and Iran to blame the “occupation.”
Saudi Arabia is the world’s foremost Sunni nation. It carries the banner of Sunni Islam. To believe that it will normalize relations with the Jewish state of Israel is to misunderstand what normative Islam is all about.
“Israel-Hamas war forces Saudi Arabia’s hand over the Palestinian cause,” by Trinidad Deiros Brontë, El Pais, November 3, 2023:
The terms chosen by Saudi Arabia to condemn Tuesday’s Israeli bombardment of the Jabaliya refugee camp in Gaza were revealing: the attack was “inhumane” and the offensive on “besieged” Gaza, a “bloodbath” committed by “Israeli occupation forces.” This censure was the latest demonstration that the signing of the agreement to normalize relations between the Arab power and Israel is not only no longer on the table — Riyadh announced its freezing on October 13 — but that the pact now seems impossible in the short term. Israeli bombings of civilian targets in Gaza have taken with them the words of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who told Fox News in a September 20 interview that the agreement was “closer every day.”
With more than 9,000 Gazans killed in Israeli air strikes according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, not even an absolute monarchy like Saudi Arabia would dare to go ahead with a normalization once described in the Arab world as khiyaana (betrayal). On the contrary, Riyadh is now spearheading initiatives such as the joint communiqué issued last week by nine Arab countries to denounce “the flagrant violations of international law” committed by Israel in Gaza….

In ancient times, Israel was told not to form alliances with the neighboring nations. They were warned that to make friends of their enemies would only lead to trouble for Israel.
Sometimes, they listened to the warning. Other times, they went ahead with their human plans and found out later that they were wrong to ignore the warnings.
mozlums lie. Much like the Assyrians (the non-Christian, horrible people kind), Babylonians, Egyptians of ancient times, any form of agreement with Israel is a one-sided thingy…all in the mozlum’s favor and breakable by them at any moment without prior notice.
The true heart of the mozlum in saudi arabia is coming through loud and clear. Any self-defense by Israel will be condemned. The salman guy could slit the throat of his brother or uncle to keep himself in power and no mozlum there would condemn him as ‘bloodthirsty” or “inhumane,” even if the victim was asleep in his bed.
where does this ghoul stand with regard to hamas?

So, how would the Saudis react if Yemen’s Houthis attacked across the border and committed unspeakable atrocities to the Saudi people? This only proves that it’s not about the Palestinians and the Israelis, but rather the Muslim Ummah and the very existence of Jews…anywhere.

That point of view sounds like the universal point of view of Muslims. How dare Israel defend itself. Of course, the sick and twisted Muslim point of view is that all of us should merely cave in and meekly surrender to islam. What is “inhumane” is every aspect of islam, the whole damned evil, barbaric religious ideology. Anytime that you are pissing off Muslims then you can be sure that you are on the right track. Anytime that Muslims are happy with what you are doing, then you are on the wrong track. The entire non-Muslim world needs to wake up and defend itself from the evil followers of barbaric islam instead of putting up with all this Muslim bullshit and evil behaviour.

Agreed. We will have no peace until they are all GONE!

Who didn’t know saudi would do this? If it hadn’t been the war, it would have been something else.
Moslems are moslems are moslems, and this is just another reminder that they cannot be trusted, individually or collectively.

Awesome. They poked the bear. There is not one Muslim country who saw the Hamas attack on Israel as evil or even wrong. Islam is the problem.

And the Saudi Arabia is NOT our friend.
