The Houthis, an Iranian proxy from Yemen that has been attacking ships in the Red Sea in a show of support for Hamas, is now set to expand its war by “hitting ships heading toward the Cape of Good Hope.” Many ships are heading toward the Cape of Good Hope in order to avoid the Red Sea, and now the Houthis intend to disrupt the shipping routes there as well. Already, the Houthis have affected the supply chain in many countries of the West, and the entire economic stability of Italy.
Houthis now intend to use hypersonic missiles with “highly destructive capabilities.” Last year, it was reported that Iran “created a hypersonic missile capable of traveling at 15 times the speed of sound” and named it Fattah, meaning “Conquerer.” The Houthis plan to “begin manufacturing it for use in attacks in the Red and Arabian Seas and the Gulf of Aden, as well as against targets in Israel.”
So far, the Biden-lead coalition in the Red Sea has downed several Houthi missiles, but is losing the war against the group, again sending a message of weakness not only the Houthis, but also to Iran.
The Houthis continue to be drastically underestimated in the West, while posing a grave danger to the region and beyond.
“Houthis warn new ‘hypersonic missile’ will target Cape of Good Hope bound shipping,” The New Arab, March 15, 2024:
Abdul Malik al-Houthi, the Houthis’ secretive supreme leader, said the rebels will start hitting ships heading toward the Cape of Good Hope.
Yemen’s Houthis claim to have a new, hypersonic missile in their arsenal, Russia’s state media reported Thursday, potentially raising the stakes in their attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and surrounding waterways against the backdrop of Israel’s war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip .
The report by the state-run RIA Novosti news agency cited an unidentified official but provided no evidence for the claim. It comes as Moscow maintains an aggressively counter-Western foreign policy amid its grinding war on Ukraine .
However, the Houthis have for weeks hinted about “surprises” they plan for the battles at sea to counter the United States and its allies, which have so far been able to down any missile or bomb-carrying drone that comes near their warships in Mideast waters.
On Thursday, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, the Houthis’ secretive supreme leader, said the rebels will start hitting ships heading toward the Cape of Good Hope in Africa’s southern tip. Until now, the rebels have largely struck ships heading into the Red Sea toward the Suez Canal…..

This is what you get for being nice. Now is the time to bomb them WW II style. Take out every military installation. All armed people ( they have no uniforms so can’t go by that) should be targeted – hopefully in groups. Basically remove any possibility or any attack on anyone or any ship. Then when the smoke clears and they realize the destruction they brought on themselves, shipping can continue to move with safety and a return to the freedom of the seas.

Rick, I am so sorry but you make too much sense.

It should be remembered about that dangerous and deadly jihad group, the Houthis which that hostile and vicious Islamic regime of Iran supports. It was reported in the newspaper THE EPOCH TIMES February 21-27 page A19 that “The Houthis repeatedly targets American assets, shutting down the Red Sea . In response, the Biden administration could only muster pinprick strikes and faux terror redesignation. The Houthi aggression continues.”
That article also reveals that the Houthi is a proxy jihad entity of Iran.
Of course that despicable fiend ,Joe Biden still strives to do everything that he is able to do to uphold and support that hostile Anti -America and anti-Israel Islamic tyrannical regime of Iran.
Walter Sieruk says
Those malice-filled vicious and deadly savage jihadists of the Houthis are nothing but stooges of that “mullah regime” of Iran. Even though they tools of those Muslim tyrants in power of Iran, they’re nevertheless very dangerous. Therefore, the only fitting way that they should be dealt with is by a very strong power of military might. Not by the token half-hearts strike, that Joe Biden ordered.
In contrast to that fool Biden, the wise words of Thomas Jefferson are the appropriate and right way to handle the menacing problem the Houthis jihadists.
For Mr. Jefferson had, rightly, declared, “With every barbarous people…force is law.”
martin walden says
So true. President Jefferson knew better than to waist time and effort negotiated with the Barbary Pirates. He used overwhelming force and landed the Marines to kill the Islamic pirates (celebrated in the US Marines anthem. From the shores of Tripoli…).
It is ridiculous that the USA spends more on its military than the next ten highest spending nations do COMBINED but is too afraid of removing a rag tag band of pirates.

Wonder what South Africa’s islam-loving ANC regime would think about the Houthis now disrupting Cape shipping? Earlier, they had done South Africa a favor by forcing shipping to go around the Cape, but now, w/ this, they’ll force shipping to instead go through the Panama canal. Does Iran then have ICBMs to enable the Houthis to attack that as well?
Rick Gordon says
No surprise here. The world learned almost a hundred years ago that appeasement does not deter evil behavior. It does the opposite – it encourages them to continue and expand the evil activity.

Until we bomb these savages back into the Stone Age they will continue to plague us with there stupidity.
OLD GUY says
OK, who sold these savages the hyper missiles? Maybe we should be having a major discussion with them and the companies who built them. These attacks would not be happening if someone or company/country was not profiting from the sale of these weapons. Let’s lean on them with sanctions, cut trade agreements and expel their diplomats. Follow that with strategic bombing the hell out of these missile sites and there operators.
Lenny Leaps In says
It is the Iranian regime that supplies these medieval Muslim savages (called the Houthis) ‘their’ food and drink, uniforms, guns, missiles, drones, military logistics, propaganda etc. Iran is the problem. Now Iran is saying (via the Houthis) that they will now take out shipping bound for the Cape of Good Hope. Sheer madness…
