Will gay rights advocates say a word about this? Of course not. It has long been established that in the hierarchy of politically correct causes, Islam trumps gay rights. When AFDI ran ads highlighting the mistreatment of gays in Islamic law, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors issued a resolution condemning not that mistreatment, but our ads. Gay advocates such as Theresa Sparks and Chris Stedman attacked us for daring to call attention to the institutionalized mistreatment of gays under Islamic law.
“Police Arrest Gay Couple in Indonesian Province of Aceh,” Latin American Herald Tribune, March 30, 2018 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
JAKARTA – Police in the conservative province of Aceh have arrested two university students accused of same-sex relations after a raid, LGBT activists confirmed on Friday.
Local residents in Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh, the only province in Indonesia that adheres to the strict code of Islamic Sharia law, broke into the student accommodation on Thursday, confiscated condoms and telephones, and handed them over to the authorities, an activist, who requested anonymity, told EFE.
The arrested students are 21 and 24 years old; one is of Christian Batak ethnicity, while the other is Muslim.
The head of the investigation department of the Religious police, Marzuki, told the local portal Serambi that one of those arrested had admitted to the charges.
The crime of “Liwath,” or sodomy among men, is punishable with up to 100 lashes.
Last year, two men were punished with 83 lashes in public for engaging in same-sex relationships….

The gay press has covered the situation in Aceh for years.
Robert~ Please stop painting all gay activists everywhere with the same spiteful brush because you had a bad experience in SFO. You do both the gay community and your own cause a great disservice when you indulge in such misrepresentations.
mortimer says
Kevin, MUSLIMS ARE NOT ALLIES OF GAY PEOPLE.
I think your complaint of a blanket condemnation of gays by Spencer is without merit.
You may have come across an occasional articles in the leftist gay press about persecution, but are such articles critical of Islam really all that prevalent…? Or are such articles hidden on page 17 ???
Most of us are NOT combing through the HIGHLY LEFTIST gay popular press looking for articles on persecution from Muslims.
Robert Spencer is responding to the HYPOCRISY of individuals who ABANDON THE PERSECUTED by shooting at their defender. What other notable DEFENDERS OF PERSECUTED GAYS do you find? CNN? Not likely. Listen to the crickets!
I do NOT believe Robert Spencer has ever hinted or implied that he blames ALL gays for being ostriches. He certainly does critique (and justifiably) the GAY ACTIVIST OSTRICHES.
Those gay activists who criticize Spencer for drawing attention to the ISLAMIC IDEOLOGY that DECREES DEATH and PERSECUTION for gay people are ARGUING AGAINST THE INTEREST OF THE GAY COMMUNITY.
Those gay activists who defend ISLAM at all costs from ANY CRITIQUE are themselves nothing more than neo-Marxists following their party line, namely, that Muslims are ALLIES of MARXISTS.
Kevin, Muslims are not the ALLIES of gay people.
mortimer says
Kevin, on a more positive note, I recommend you SEND COPIES of any articles on ISLAMIC PERSECUTION in the gay press and I’m certain Robert Spencer will be pleased to publish them on Jihadwatch.
Milo is perhaps the one and only gay activist of note who is ACTUALLY CRITICIZING ISLAM in the open.
mortimer says
Kevin, please read the following articles in defense of MILO …
Milo: “There’s a real threat to gays – Islam – that we’ve ignored at the behest of leftists”

What in the hell did I say to indicate that I thought Muslims were not the enemy of gay people? Did I say anything about Milo? I have over the years sent Robert several such articles, but he never acts on them.

Please post a link to a ‘gay press’ article or two in which unequivocal outrage and disgust are expressed for not merely for the treatment of homosexuals in Aceh, but In particular, those in which Islam’s texts and rulings command it.
I don’t doubt they exist, but a link will put the argument to rest.
Note: IMO, Spencer’s reference to the SFO BOS was not merely a “bad experience”.

S Kevin Wojtaszek is right–some of the Gay press has been quite good about covering persecution of homosexuals in Dar-al-Islam. This is from the Bay Area Reporter, a San Francico newspaper:
“SF LGBTs protest caning of gay men in Indonesia”
http://ebar.com/news/article.php?sec=news&article=72671
Robert Spencer is also correct about the clueless San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
Arryn says
What is the problem? Robert is just simply pointing out the fact about the Gay community world wide. They are a bunch of hypocrites when it comes to defending their own kind of weird people. So face facts and stop being a victim.
gravenimage says
Not all of them. I have a friend–recently passed away–who was a Gay Anti-Jihadist.
There are also people like Bruce Bawer and Milo Yiannopoulos.
Many Gay people are pretty clueless about the threat of Jihad–but not all of them.

……………………..
Please note–the vicious Ibrahim itace muhammed has said that that “garden of enjoyment” includes Muslims “marrying” little children, engaging in forced marriage; kidnapping and raping Infidel women and using them as sex slaves.
But any consensual sex–gay or straight–is “bellow (sic) that of beasts”.
There is no love in Islam.
S Kevin Wojtaszek says
I did not make any statement about issues like transsexuals in the military, or Milo, NPR or CNN.
Whataboutism is a commie rhetorical tactic. Uncle Joe Stalin salutes you from the grave for using it. I merely took the time to point out that Robert’s posts about gay people are prefaced with plaintive litanies of some abuse he suffered from a few gay people in one city.
Every. Single. Time.
As for expecting that any article about gays objecting to Islamic abuse include statements about Islamic texts, since when is that required for third party posts on JW? Double standard much? (BTW Most of the gay press is online. There is no page 17. Much of what I know about the subject is from articles distributed by friends on Facebook who share my concerns about Islam. These stories are often posted weeks or even months before coverage on JW, if they are covered at all.)
And Ibrahim, you are the genocidal filth in this situation. There is so much blood on your wretched hands that it’s a wonder you can type.
gravenimage says
Ibrahim itace muhammed seems to have a lot of trouble typing. Perhaps this is why…

I didn’t say it was required and didn’t ask you to provide statements about Islam’s texts.
If the gay press hasn’t noted the reason for Aceh’s treatment of homosexuals–why not?

Most of the press has very little clue about Islam as the cause of problems–they are hardly unique in that. But yes–some of the gay press does cover stories about presecution of homosexuals in Dar-al-Islam.

PRCS~
I am reluctant to do this for two reasons.
First some of the articles make reference to Sharia without quoting Islamic scripture, and therefore do not meet a standard JW makes for no other group that stands in opposition to Islam.
Second, articles in the gay press are often accompanied by ads containing “beefcake”, or salacious links with titles like, “Nick Jonas’ first gay sex scene slammed by viewers for ‘perpetuating stigmas”, and may be NSFW.
So here goes. All I’ve done is type the word, “Indonesia” into the search engines of three online gay publications.
https://www.pinknews.co.uk/?s=indonesia
https://www.advocate.com/search/site/Indonesia (Scroll down a bit for this one.)
https://www.gaystarnews.com/?s=Indonesia#gs.yI=SHBM
PRCS says
Thank you.
While not expecting quotations from Islamic scripture, it’s difficult to imagine that stating “per Islamic law” or (as is certainly the case in Aceh) “strict compliance with Islamic law”, which is true, would cause those who create such publications much grief.
Picking one article at random from your list (Arrested LGBTI people face public caning next month in Indonesia), I noted this:
“Introduced in 2014, Qanun Jinayat is a strict Islamic Sharia Law code unique to the Aceh province. Aceh is the only Indonesian province that can legally adopt by-laws derived from Sharia due to a ‘Special Status’ agreement brokered in 1999. Essentially, the Indonesian government allowed Aceh the Special Status to calm its desires during negotiations to become an independent state.”
Rather imagine other articles do, as well.
And, no, I don’t search “gay press” articles for that “beefcake” reason.
